7 EB1A Green Card Benefits: Your Path to Excellence, Freedom, and Unprecedented Opportunities in the USA

EB1A is a type of employment-based green card or immigrant visa that permits you to reside and work permanently in the US and you can enjoy many of the benefits that U.S. citizens have.

If you earn an EB1A, you do not have to rely on your H1B visa, which is typically linked to your employer. Additionally, your lengthy waiting process to obtain EB2 and EB3 green cards will end.

On top of the good things mentioned earlier, the EB1A comes with lots of other great stuff. Let’s take a closer look at all these advantages.

Benefits of an EB1A Green Card

The EB1A green card is intended for individuals who excel in their respective fields and have a record of sustained national or international acclaim.

EB1A is an appealing category for foreign nationals due to its faster processing time, lack of labor certification requirements, self-sponsorship option, and no need for a job offer.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? Let’s delve deeper into the benefits of an EB1A.

1. Unlimited Job Flexibility

If you obtain an EB1A, there are numerous benefits for your career progression. These include:
  • You can change your job as you prefer, as no sponsorships are needed for EB1A.
  • You can start your entrepreneurial journey.
  • You don’t miss any opportunities in companies that only hire citizens or green card holders.

2. Allows for Self-Sponsor

You can self-petition your EB1A application with USCIS, even without a permanent job position or job offer. Thus, you don’t need an employer to sponsor your application.

As an EB1A green card holder, you have the ability and freedom to work wherever you want and switch jobs without hassle.

3.  No Labor Certification Required

For EB2 and EB3 green card applications, you need labor certification before your application can proceed with USCIS. To obtain labor certification, your employer must undergo the PERM process, which typically takes 6-10 months.

However, in the case of EB1 visas, you don’t need labor certification. You can apply directly to USCIS and save time.

4. Faster processing time in EB1A green card

In the case of EB2 and EB3, the priority date is the day when the Department of Labor receives your PERM application, which is filed by your employer. However, for the EB1 visa, the priority date is when the USCIS receives your application because it doesn’t require labor certification.

As a result, EB2 and EB3 green cards take longer to process; you may have to wait a decade or more. In the case of EB1A, the processing time is much faster

 5. Inclusion of Dependents & Educational Opportunities

If you earn an EB1A, your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 will be eligible to apply for E14 or E15 immigration status, respectively, in the US.

Some educational institutions and organizations offer financial aid, grants, and scholarships for EB1A green card holders.

6. Pathway to U.S. Citizenship

After obtaining your EB1A, you can gradually apply for US citizenship when you meet their requirements, which will enable you to fully enjoy its benefits, including voting and the inclusion of other family members in the US.

However, you will be eligible to apply for citizenship only after residing in the U.S. for five consecutive years following the receipt of your green card.

Eligibility Criteria for EB1A Green Card

The EB1A is available to individuals in various professions, including engineers, technologists, entrepreneurs, artists, and more. Importantly, EB1A applicants do not need any advanced qualifications. However, applicants need to demonstrate their extraordinary abilities through evidence when applying to the USCIS.

The USCIS will initially assess whether the applicant meets at least 3 out of the 10 established EB1A criteria. Subsequently, they will thoroughly review all the evidence submitted to determine whether you meet the criteria for being recognized as a top expert in your field.

Conclusion

To conclude, if you are missing opportunities in the US dreamland because you do not hold a green card, take action now toward your green card journey.
